Concord Ultimax car seat safety problem - please read!!?
I have two of these car seats boght just under a year old and at the weekend a part broke on one of them causing the seatbelt not to stay tightenend on the car seat so we took it back to the shop where they replaced a part and checked our other car whih had also broken not fully. She said they had replaced lots of car seat parts and the manufacturers hadn't changed the design yet. The part that was broken has caused part of the belt to fray which the manufacturers have agreed to send out replacement parts after telling me I was tightenend the belt the wrong way it has to be pulled away from you and that is why the part has snapped after arguing with them on the phone as it doesn't specify in the instruction manual that it has to be pulled away at a certain angle from u they agreed to send me the parts. The car seats showed no signs of being broken until it wouldn't stay tightenend and my sons car seat still stayed tightenend.Just thought I would let everyone know about this fault incase it has happenend to yours and you don't know about it yet or maybe your pulling the strap the wrong way concord.de en products driving car seats ultimaxTo make this a proper question what nice things did you do today with your kids?

Needing some information on car seat safety?
Hello everyone... Have a question. My son is 9 months old he will b 10mos tomorrow and he is 23 1 2 ibs and he is 30.25 inches long.. I just recently purchased a car seat that converts into infant, toddler, and Booster.... He is really too long his legs are all bunched up and I know that isn't comfortable for him. Would it be alright if I go ahead and turn him forward facing? His car seat says he is over the weight requrement but he needs a few more inches... his legs touch back of the seat and he doesn't have much room to move...Its really tight... I have reclinded it as much as I could and he still doesn't have much room.
Please help me with Infant car seat safety problem?..(First time parents)?
I have a 2000 mercury cougar sport, and today my husband installed the carseat into my car. It's a Graco Snug ride, however I don't have the Latch system in my car. He followed the directions but I am still concerned about the car seat because only an adult seat belt is holding the base into place. I jiggled the car seat and it moved. I am really wondering how I can find out if we did everything right.Advice? It's also a two door car, Is that safe for infants?
Are you educated on car seat safety? Please read!?
I get so sick of seeing so many parents buckling their babies into car seats wrong. It drives me insane What's the point in even using one if its not being used right? First of all, babies MUST remain rear facing until they are AT LEAST one year AND 20 pounds. That is only the minimum though. The longer you rear face your baby, the safer they are. Most car seats can rear face up to 35 pounds. If you have ever been in a crash, remember the tremendous amount of force it can put on your neck? Well imagine a little baby trying to hold their head up in a crash. They are simply not strong enough to withstand the force of a crash, which is why rear facing can save their life because the shell of the car seat absorbs the impact instead. Now as far as using car seats correctly..make sure the car seat is always buckled in very tightly. The car seat should not be able to move back and forth and be wiggled easily. Also, the straps should be very snug on your child. You should be able to get no more than 2 fingertips between the strap and your child's shoulder. The straps should also always be on the shoulders, not slipping off the shoulders. The chest clip also always needs to be all the way up to armpit level. I see so many moms who have the chest clip way down by the child's waist and the straps are way too loose. If you get into a crash like that, I can almost guarantee your child will be ejected from the car seat and possibly thrown from the vehicle because the strips and clip won't be able to keep them in the seat. If the chest clip is down too far, the straps will simply fall to the sides of your child and the child will rip right out of the seat. And with older children..they should always remain in a booster seat until they are at least 4'9. The longer an older child remains in a 5 point harness, the safer they are. My son has the Graco Nautilus car seat and he can remain buckled in the 5 point harness until 65 pounds I included links of pictures to show the correct and incorrect way to buckle your child. I just want to make sure everyone knows the right and wrong way to buckle their kids. This first picture shows how unsafe the buckle job is. That child would be ripped from her seat in a crash safechildofmine.com files 187...This is how a baby should be buckled with the straps nice and tight and the chest clip up at armpit level img.photobucket.com albums v626 c...At least watch this short a video about the importance of rear facing. Its very important information youtube.com watch?v Y2DVfqFhs...Well what the heck..sorry I'm not sure why the links aren't working. Go to youtube and type in rear facing. Its the first video that comes up. Please watch
What is more important in terms of car seat safety, the hieght max or the weight max?
We are buying new car seats for our toddler and preschooler. they are both tall and i want something with a 5 piont harness for as long as possible. Britax gives you 80 lbs but it is bulkey and the hieght only goes to 53 inches which my daughter will most likely be 53 inches long before she will be 80 lbs. The safeguard givs you 57 inches but it only goes up to 65 lbs and i think she will weigh 65lbs before she is 57 inches tall. So if height is more inortant in terms of safety i go with safeguard but if weight is more inportant then i go with britax
Does anyone know a good website to find infant car seat safety ratings?
I am looking into the Combi Zeus Convertible Car Seat but also want info on other infant seats. I have read recalls where some detached from the base during accidents.
Where can I find car seat safety law in my state?
Im looking around on NHTSA and I cant seem to find in writing the actual laws for rear facing, forward facing and booster seat laws. I would like to know the laws for kentucky and ohio. I know about the newer rear facing recommendation's etc so I don't need to know those.Im looking at the site the 2nd poster posted and wouldnt you know it. My sons car seat that converts into a booster is on the not recommended list. Well sh lol. But hes not even close to being able to ride in a booster yet so thats good I guessuh yes..thats very very crazy. My lil nephew is in a booster and has been for almost 2 years now and he lets himself out all the time. I want a new carseat for my toddler but I dunno how Im supposed to convince my husband of that when we spent 170 on his seat like idiots lolI just watched a crash test dummy video and i wanted to cry. I wish I could afford to britax car seats with higher weight height limits but I dont think they would fit in our car. Any of you ladies bought Graco my ride carseats?
Car seat safety reviews and ratings?
I am looking in to getting a convertible car seat for my 9 month old. She is getting to big for her infant seat. I am having a very hard time finding a website that shows the safety ratings for car seats. Can anyone send me in the right direction? Or let me know what they are using and do they like it? I have a VW golf and her infant seat barely fits no one can sit up front because you have to push the seat up so i have to be sure the convertible isnt to much bigger. Thanks all
Re-posting this again for more opinions...Car seat Safety...?
Despite the laws regarding an infant in Rear Facing position for 1 year and 20 lbs, why do parents still tend to switch for Forward Facing before the child is 1 year old, even though their weight is over 20 lbs? I know they say the infant is happier and they can see out the window and all, but the child shouldn't have a say in how they sit, cause they don't know about accidents and how they can be severely hurt in a crash, only the parents know. So, why make the child happy, by putting them in more danger? The child should have no say in how they sit, since they have no idea about safety. Even if their legs are really long, wouldn't it be better to have potentially broken legs than a spinal injury? Also, I do realize some have siblings in which are sitting forward, but should THAT really give you the idea to make the decision to FF your child too young, for the child happiness?I just want to know, why parents not the ones who keep RF, but the ones who do it too early do this? Why?MJ, you didn't answer my question.By Howdy They do make convertible seats. And you said a screaming baby annoys you more than the safety? An advantage to see the child is not worth the risk. The convince of getting the child in the seat, is not worth the risk.Stacy S They do make convertible car seats that go up to 35lbs. My son hasn't used an infant seat since he was 4 months old, but he will be RR well past age 1. Also, for you uneducated mind, BROKEN LEGS ARE BETTER THAN YOUR CHILD HEAD BEING THROW FROM HIS SPIN, wow you are such a smart cookie. And Stacy S. I want to add that I want to know about those mothers who FF before age one, again you read so well.Well Satcy S. I have been using yahoo for several years, missy miss miss, LMAO. And I do spend my time after my son is asleep on here before bed. So what? Don't be mad cause I pointed YOU out. I didn t say what you said was bad, but you can RF in convertible car seats. I mean, my son is not 1 yet, and we have been out of an infant seat a long time ago. YOU must have some time on your hands too since you edited your UNEDUCATED comment.AS of now, I have answered 2,604 questions in a 3 year period miss Stacy S.
Car seat safety? Have you read the Consumer's Report?
I have the Graco Safeseat. It was one of the twelve seats tested by CR that did poorly. I find this terrifying for two reasons 1 Just last night I had a dream that I had a car wreck and then couldn't find my child a dream like this has not ever happened to me before and 2 My son loves this seat and so do I. Does anyone else have the Graco Safeseat? What do you think of it?Has anyone actually read the CR Article? If so, can you shed any light on this for me?Thanks in advance
Car seat safety and hassles!?
I have a great car seat for my car evenflo symphony which i bought months before my daughter needed it while it was on sale. Great decision I am now wanting to get a seat for my mom's suv, and one for my daughters dad's small truck. She will be spending a good amount of time in my mom's car considering she watches her at least 2 days a week while i'm at school, so we will probably get a graco my ride or similar for that car. Her dad comes over for the other 2 days that i have class and keeps her at my house. This was fine when we used the infant carrier because it just stayed wherever my daughter is. So basically now I am looking into getting one either to leave at home or in her dad's truck in case it is needed. I am considering getting a cosco scenera because of the price since it wont be used much. Does anyone know if these are just as safe as more expensive brands? I have searched for safety features but i'm not really finding much info. Also if anyone else has any advice on what is working for you with the " multiple car seat" issue, it would be appreciated Does anyone else just have one car seat that you switch between multiple cars often? yes Dad is willing to pay but i wanted to do the research and pick it out and thats what he wanted to
Car seat safety question *repost*?
My father in law came to pick up my 19 month old daughter who is in a high back forward facing car seat. He only has a truck with front seats and yes they have airbags. He thinks it should be ok, but now that they've left I have my doubts. My question is this Can you legally put a toddler in the front seat of a vehicle in their car seat of course if the front seats are the only seats in the vehicle? Does it vary from state to state I live in Texas ? Note, please don't jump down my throat. I'm looking for information here, not a lecture or rant.
Car seat safety help?
My husband argues that the front seat of the car is more safe for a child who has legs that go lower than the seat don't know where he got that from because of the airbags. I think that the back seat is safer at any age. Which is safer, and do you have any links stats to back it up? I want to make my point or be proven wrong I can take it...
