Should i switch from private school to home school?

Question: Should i switch from private school to home school?

(Posted by: Cutie on 2010-07-27 18:01:18)

My parents were wondering if I wanted to be homeschool student. The problem is, I love my private school friends and it would be my first time homeschooling. Should I try and see if I like it? Or should I stay as a private school student..... If you have any recommendations for a good home schooling program that would be great! Thank you!

Do you do well in private school? Do you get good grades, enjoy learning? Why change that? I also believe that your choice doesn't mean it has to be permanent. If you don't like homeschool, go back to your school. I know of one mother who allows her daughter to pick each year if she'll be attending school or homeschooling.

DO NOT DO IT! I did and I am miserable. I still prefer it to school because now I've formed a fear of going back to cliques and mean girls, etc. But it sucks not to see your friends everyday and it might put a big strain on your relationship with your family if you have to be together all the time.

You need to narrow down your pros and cons. (A pro is a advantage con is a disadvantage) What would be better at home school? Private school? Heres what I think about each:' PROS ABOUT HOMESCHOOL Pros Homeschool - Its a whole lot easier to comunicate with parents - You get ALL the attention - You go through lessons faster - You get more time for breaks and things like that.\ Pros for Private School - Social Life, more friends happier life - Better chance of getting into a good college - You get teached by proffesinals - You proably have more fun. CONS Cons Homeschool - No friends - Wont get into GREAT college proably - No proffesinal teachers Cons Private - Not as much attention -lesoons will take longer - you wont feel open and strong This stuff depends on what you feel most comftarble. You could try homeschool for a year but you may loose friendships. Did you know most people who do homeschool dont get into a acceptable college? Think bout it first. I think Private is best. ECSPECIALLY if your in High school/ Middle school. Good luck! :D

If you home school, you can help create your own customized curriculum, and get your education with a focus and emphasis on what you think is important and motivating. You can approach things with emphasis on what you need most and what interests you most, capitalizing on your strengths, and compensating for your shortcomings, without torturing yourself over them. Furthermore, the money you save from private school could probably take you through at least 2 years of additional college, allowing you to graduate without debt, or get a Master's or Doctorate, or fund the startup of your own small business. Maybe you're well off enough that these things don't matter, but in your position, I would have jumped at home schooling, as much as I enjoyed the social aspects of high school, I could have easily found alternates in extracurricular activities.

People will give you a wide variety of opinions, but you need to figure this out for yourself. No one else will have the same priorities and experiences as you. My suggestion: Start by making a couple of lists. List all the reasons for each option (and against the other). Take a few days to make sure your lists are complete. Often comparing the lists will make the answer obvious to you. And remember that becoming a homeschooler doesn't mean that you *have* to give up your friends. Most private schools will still let you come to after school events and be around your friends. And you can invite your friends over to visit, too. But you will likely be less close to them, since they'll be doing different things and have different concerns. Homeschooling can be great since you can get an education personally made for you. It can be run how you and your parents want. It can go at your pace. And it usually takes less time than a classroom education. And there isn't anything that says you can't swith back if you really decide you hate it. I'd also suggest you look into the different options for homeschooling--there are so many different ways to do it--and see if any of them appeal to you. Check out local homeschool support groups--talk to people in them and see what activities and events are available locally. Find out just what homeschooling could be for you, then finish your lists and make your decision.

I say you should do private school if you love your friends then home schooling would take that away since you are the only student and dont have socializing time....
