Do you know these clues to email fraud scams?
I hav not been scammed, nor do I know anyone who has, but the amount of spam that is from these criminals, combined with TV reports says that people ARE, indeed, losing money because of greed, ignorance or both. Here are some very easy things to keep in mind 1. If you did not enter, you cannot win, anything2. If you are being contacted for legitimate prizes, they KNOW YOUR NAME already, you gave it when you entered3. Businesses do nt have trouble cashing checks5. ATM cards are not issued with the PIN given to you in an email6. The ONLY money one would have to pay, as a result of winning, is the tax on the retail value. This is collected by the Government7. ABSOLUTELY NO RANDOM EMAIL LOTTERY EXISTS 8. BUSINESSES DO NOT ANONOMOUSLY HIRE FINANCIAL OFFICERS OR COLLECTION AGENTS8. NO AFRICAN EMAIL THAT PROMISES YOU $$ IS LEGITIMATE, NO MATTER HOW OFFICIAL THEY TRY TO APPEAR9. Official correspondence rarely, if ever, has mis spelled wordsmore to follow and add your own10. Official correspondence is NEVER ALL CAPITAL LETTERS 11. too much info is requested. It does not matter your occupation to win anything, letters of eligibility will have a space o affirm that you are not an employee, or relative of the company or sponsors and that you affirm that you meet other requirements age, legal residency 12. asking you to join them in the commission of a crime posing as a next of kin, or other type of legal representative.13. asking you to keep it confidential. If you won, tell everyone you know about it Legitimate contests count on it as a form of free prizes are cheap compared to other forms of advertizing advertizing, as you and your family will spread the word obout thier company14. asking you t invest money for a terminally ill person is ALWAYS AN EMAIL SCAM15. asking you to wire money via western union is always a scam tell them to deduct the shipping from your 'prize' money and see where that gets you
